Carburettor Tuning - Using Fuel Combustion Colour
Переглядів 1,3 тис.6 років тому
Incorrect carburettor settings cause inefficient fuel burn. Using a video probe, the engine combustion chamber can be monitored. If combustion is yellow in colour, the fuel flow is too high. The fuel supply is gradually reduced until combustion is blue in colour. The engine speed rises, as the fuel supply is reduced. This indicates: greater power is being generated, for less fuel consumed. Yell...

    I've watched a few of these videos on other sites..... Your warning about the screws into the aluminium base is spot on....I shudder & cringe when I see these people using a power drill to remove and, worse, reinstall screws....Unbelievable... a screw 5mm in length or even less and they run the risk of cross-threading the screw, stripping the thread or worse, shearing the damn thing. I just don't understand how anyone would use a power driver on such fragile components. Madness! It's the epitome of laziness.

    What part of Yorkshire are you from? You sound a bit "Leeds" or Morley? I live in South America now and love hearing "English by the English"....I am usually pretty close when I hear an English accent as to what part they hail from.... My best yet, was a chap in Australia.... I said: "I reckon you are from east side of Oldham......" He lived in Delph...a village to the east of Oldham! Thanks for the video....got one of these in now.... stinking of paraffin.... They are very expensive here....but I am not a fan of them at all....overrated, smelly, not at all impressed. Yes, much better than the paraffin stoves of my childhood.....but not massively so. (Many of the problems are caused by the quality of the fuel I reckon) Cheers.

    New issue for me, and you seem to be the only person who knows your way round these heaters. wife said she turned it on, it ignited and ran for a short while then stopped, and the screen was blank (as if no power). I went to have a look, the heater appears dead (socket checked and was ok) and the heater casing was noticeably very hot! I’m waiting for it to cool down and have another look, but I’m guessing it went haywire and overheated, tripping something?? Any ideas gratefully appreciated. 🙏

      Check the mother board, where the mains supply is transformed - there should be a fuse, and there may be more than one. If the fuses are good, and the panel remains blank, then an electric component has failed. Re the heat ... check the air intake grill, and make sure everything is clean. Also ensure that it is not too close to a wall etc. Good luck :)

    Hello, I bought one of these heaters a few years ago, as a back up heater. Then decided to use it now because of recent gas price increases. I thought I would be the clever one, by only using "Ultra Low Sulphur" paraffin. I got one trouble free winter use out of it, now it has died in the second winter with E0 and E04 errors. Probably because I used the heater on minimum heat for a while. I now believe that these heaters must be cleaned and serviced every year, regardless of the fuel used. Something they don't tell you when you buy one.

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning 6 місяців тому

      I'm surprised that you only got one season out of it, but I agree with your conclusion re the setting to minimum heat. Add 0.5% acetone to each refill. This should help ensure a clean blue burn, whilst set to minimum. (Obviously, this raises the heat output) ;)

    • @corringhamdepot4434
      @corringhamdepot4434 6 місяців тому

      I buy Paraffin Extra online from a company that sells the Corona heaters, as it is about the same price delivered, as buying local standard paraffin. Last winter I burnt 64 litres. This year I managed 48 litres. Then for a week or so, I was getting the E4 error code on start up, but it would burn if I did an immediate restart. I cleaned the filter which did not look dirty. No difference. So I ran the last 4 litres at full power to see if that would clear it. Then I refilled it again. I am now getting a mix of E0 and E4 codes when I light it. If it does start after a couple of tries, it only runs for a 10 minutes, and stops with an E0 or E4 code. @@EngineTuning

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning 6 місяців тому

      @@corringhamdepot4434 You could try it with acetone first. Maybe the flame rod would clean up. Otherwise you will need to manually clean the flame rod. With the front grill off; let the heater get to full temp, and look at the flame ... there should be no yellow flames. Then lower the temp, checking the flame colour as you go.

      Generally speaking; by cleaning the heater as described, the faults disappear. However, you can first drain the fixed reservoir, and try fresh fuel with say a 0.5% acetone mix. If that works, then you can add your old fuel in small quantities at each refill. :)

      This firmware is ancient. I do not think that it is wise to use it. Best wishes. :)

    I’ve had my Inverter for over 10 years and a few years ago I started getting the E04 then E01 Coming up so I completely serviced it this year myself and cleaned the Carbon all off as I was fed up of restarting it till it worked (to be honest it was very interesting and made me understand it a lot better off how it works). I was surprised how easy it was and cleaned all the carbon deposits off the Igniter & flame rod. This show how bad fuel effects the performance not allowing i-ons to pass over time, anyone who buys one should do it trust me…..purified fuel for me from now on, this cheap paraffin gives off odours and isn’t suitable for indoor heaters…if you start getting white smoke when you start it every year you need to clean the inside with wire wool….I wouldn’t use water but only paraffin to clean it to be on the safe side 👍

    What is e8 fault

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning 7 місяців тому

      Different manufacturers may use different codes. However, the only E8 code that I have seen is: E-8 = Blower Motor malfunction. Possible cause - Hall IC, or the motor itself Output voltage to be approx. DC 2.5 V in operation. Please report back to confirm or deny this to be correct for your heater, and state the heater name and model number. :)

    How can I contact you to solve a problem?

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning 7 місяців тому

      It's not difficult. It just takes commitment to getting the explanation perfect. Type it in Notepad++ (the best text editor by far). There is no formatting, so you are free to focus on how to explain the problem using text ;) Once you have the rough draft you can make the first revision. Personally, at that point I would leave it, and get on with something else. Then re-read it. LOL That's when you realise it doesn't make sense, and you re-write it. The next day, re-read it again, confirming that enough detail has been provided. Finally, copy & paste the finished text, and click 'Reply'. Read it again immediately it has been pasted to UA-cam. If there are formatting errors, you can edit the post before anyone sees it. :)

    If I make biodiesel myself from waste vegetable restaurant oils that should be ok to burn inside if I achieve good combustion, right?

    • @EngineTuning
      @EngineTuning 7 місяців тому

      My opinion is that it will not be safe. Buy some high quality paraffin refined for indoor heaters. Check how it is a very light oil ... you can barely call it an oil, because it is so well refined. Compare it to your biodiesel. There is no way that it will burn clean. Remember ... the little diesel heaters that people fit into mobile homes ... they have an exhaust pipe that must be routed outside. The reason for this is that the exhaust fumes will kill you. Stay safe, and keep your family safe.

    All very well but what is a Ed error code on a Ruby SRE 302?

      Don't worry - it's to do with an excess of CO2 - basically use a vacuum on the grates at the back as they may be obstructed by dirt
